Treat entire part to be painted with ColorRite Prep Wipe Towelettes (sku: WIPE). If your part is down to bare metal or plastic, it must be painted with primer first. INSTRUCTIONS: Surface Preparation Procedures. Here's the application instructions on the back of the can word for word: I don't know where else you're gonna get and exact match spray paint for a KX so you better make it work. Before you use this paint I would recommend starting to shake this can every day for about 30 minutes at a time for days before the actual application. Some of these cans may have been sitting around for years and the oil may have separated from the paint. This is true unless you shake this can for a long time. Some have also said that when they used this paint it came out oily and runny. I plan to first wipe the plastic with alcohol to remove any residue oils, then sand the plastic with 600 grit sandpaper and then apply about two coats of Rustoleum plastic primer paint (available at Walmart) before I apply the Kawas aki green. This paint can be used on stiff plastic that will not be getting flexed, like the fork guards and number plates. However, probably not on plastic that will be getting flexed. The instructions on the back of this can say otherwise. Questions have been asked if this paint can be used for plastic and the answer they've gotten back was a "No". Not into the cheapo half transparent looking stock fork guards. I got this to paint the plastic fork guards, front number plate and side number plates.
